CRM Overview: Sage CRM™Success Stories: Manitoba Pork Marketing Co-Op
Manitoba Pork Marketing Co-op (MPMC) had reached the point where
changes to the industry and the potential for further and faster business shifts
required they modify their business process.
Manitoba Pork Marketing Co-Op is a
member-owned co-operative, governed by an elected board of
directors that are hog producers.
Manitoba Pork Marketing continues to be the marketer of choice
for the majority of Manitoba's independent hog producers, and is the provinces premier marketing agency, working on behalf of approximately
500 producer members that
produce 1.5 million hogs annually, representing the single
largest volume of hogs in the province.
In the spring of 2007, Manitoba Pork Marketing Co-Op and 21CRM Systems completed
the first stage of their implementation of Sage CRM and Sage AccPac ERP to
replace their settlement and accounting system.
By building on the best of breed Sage Accpac ERP accounting solution and the
unique and powerful Sage CRM solution, 21CRM Systems delivered a
single, robust and flexible package that achieves all of MPMC’s primary goals,
as
well as offering the organization many additional supplementary benefits,
compliments of Sage CRM’s extensive feature and capability list.
Various “objects” such as “Producers”, “Packers”, and other business entities
were created, and business processes
and procedures were developed around them. These objects are related, and now
share data amongst them. This approach has been proven to maximize the
efficiencies of the system, and minimize both the number, and cost of business
processes that surround them. For example, by looking up a
“Producer”, MPMC automatically has access to all of the information
relating to that producer, which previously would have been drawn from separate
systems. This means from one place, MPMC can access all of this
information (and more), in real time, based on appropriate user permissions.
The project was also developed with a great deal of legacy integration. CRM is now integrated bidirectionally to legacy systems as a bridge
to allow them to continue to migrate their older systems over time as business requirements dictate.
The system was also customized to fulfill optional requirements
building on the native capabilities of Sage CRM and clean integration between
CRM and AccPac. MPMC standardized on this because research had found that:
- The Sage Accpac ERP Accounting solution is the #1 mid-market accounting
solution in Canada. It also provides a “best of breed” extendable and
programmable software interface, and a technology structure well ahead of
other competing ERP solutions.
- The Sage CRM solution is a market leader in mid-market CRM solutions, and
is a unique browser (web) based application using true web-based
technologies based on standard industry technologies. Its database is open
and transparent. Sage CRM is reliable, scalable and efficient.
Tight, native CRM and Accounting integration is unrivaled in the CRM / ERP
marketplace with these products.
Challenge:
MPMC's legacy systems suffered from technological obsolescence,
including risk to their data from the age of their systems. This
combined with a process that proved inefficient to their present
business climate, stemming from a decentralized system with multiple computer
systems. Data duplication was a problem with the old process, as well as a lack of
integration, and inefficiency in obtaining data quickly to make business
decisions.
|
Solution:
The new CRM system, as is standard with a CRM
implementation, began with a re-thinking of the business processes MPMC
followed.
Together with management and staff, 21CRM reviewed the business system
and implemented
the CRM system with tight integration with AccPac.
|
Results:
No more duplicate entries from multiple entry points
Data checked for integrity and duplication prior to entering system.
Share information between areas
Cleaner information
Current and timely information
Enhanced business processes and increases in efficiency and effectiveness

During completion of the functional requirements analysis, a technology assessment was
also completed to find the best way to import legacy data into the system. Upon
completion of initial functional requirements for the new business process, a
project plan was created to cover the development and implementation of the new
system, testing timetables and final implementation date. Together we
worked towards planning and building the new system.
The successful implementation of Sage CRM and AccPac ERP resulted in an easier
to use system which is more stable, and effective. Huge productivity gains
were realized, and the system is ready and able to for all modifications to
address new business items. 6 Months after the golive date, MPMC finds their operation running much more
smoothly, with happier customers (the pig producers and processing industry) and
an easier to use system which is more flexible to match the demands of their
business.
We utilized Sage CRM and AccPac ERP to replace their legacy
accounting and customer management systems they had in place.
We also added bidirectional integration to the legacy system.
The CRM system was modified to address business function
requirements and end users trained upon completion. We
then completed full testing and the system went live, cutting
costs immediately and allowing for rapid collection and
dissemination of information
Brent Hanson, controller of MPMC states: "We have had a terrific experience with
21CRM Systems, and have a great deal of trust in their expertise and execution
of this project to give us the most effective system".
